Principal Kim Gi-chang of Seoul National School for the Blind and Nine Others Named the Winner of the Daekyo Culture Foundation’s Nunnopi Education Award

Principal Kim Gi-chang of Seoul National School for the Blind and nine others will receive the 13th 'Nunnopi Education Award' presented by the Daekyo Culture Foundation (Chief Director: Kang Yeong-jung). Principal Kim, with visual disabilities himself, wrote textbooks on massage and finger-pressure therapy laying the foundation for specialized education and employment of the visually challenged and actively volunteered for community services in the past ten years since 1985. He was like a light house for students with visual disabilities. Kim found jobs for them and helped the graduates to live an independent life.
Other awardees include: Lee Sun-jae (Tanbang Elementary School in Daejon), Park Ik-soon (Inju Elementary School in South Chungcheong Province), and Lee Dong Su (Donam Elementary School in Jeju Island), teachers in elementary school category;
Lim Dong-yul (Jeonnam Technical High School), Seo Young-sun (Jungsan High School), and Woo Hee-gwon (Hannae Women’s Middle School), teachers in the category of secondary school;
Lim Eun-jin (teacher at Kumnamu Day Care Center) in the childcare category. The Award ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. at Nunnopi Boramae in Seoul on Nov. 19. Recipients will receive Award, plaque, and 10 million won in prize money.
