Six Former Kid Chosun and Daekyo Culture Foundation Contest Winners Top International Math Olympiad

| Korea Wins Three God Prizes and Three Silver Prizes
All six winners at the 40th International Math Olympiad turned out to be former Kid Chosun Ilbo and Daekyo Culture Foundation contest winners including Park Young-han (sophomore, Gyeonggi Science High School) who won Gold Prize in the international competition. This bears witness to the high authority of the National Math Olympiad for Elementary and Middle School Students that marks tenth year this year.
Gold Prize Winner Park Young-han was the grand prize winner of the 15th National Math Olympiad in 1995 in middle school category. He was 1st grader of Gwacheon Middle School in Gyeonggi Province. Park is a 'math genius' who also won gold prize in the 40th Asia Pacific Math Olympiad in May where high schoolers from 21 countries including Korea, the U.S., and Japan participated. Another Gold Prize winner Han Seo-rin (senior, Seoul Science High School) was third-place in the fourth National Math Olympiad (1994), and Choi Seo-hyun (senior, Seoul Science High School), bronze prize winner in the sixth Olympiad (1996). Silver Prize winners Ahn Hyung-jun (senior, Seoul Science High School) and Koo Je-rin (senior, Seoul Science High School) in the international Olympiad had been bronze prize winner in the fourth national Olympiad, and Lee Seung-hyup (1st grade, Seoul Science High School) had been bronze prize winner in the sixth and seventh national Olympiad. Out of 81 participating countries, Korea ranked 7th in total score with three gold prize winners and three silver prize winners in the 40th International Math Olympiad held last week in Bucuresti, Romania.
